Superintendent Huppenthal and President-Elect Vicky Bonavito

President Elect Vicky Bonavito educates Superintendent Huppenthal on the latest Polar physical education heart rate monitors. The superintendent has agreed to participate in "The Day In The Heart Of A ( Volunteer's Profession )" Program. In this program a community member wears the heart rate monitor during a typical workday. The results are downloaded producing a graph of the heart's activity during the day.

This is posted on a bulletin board where the students can see what your heart does when you do that particular job. This reinforces the concept that for one to work in one's target heart rate zone one must make a commitment to exercise because most professions are sedentary. This also allows the community to understand how Physical Education is changing to address the needs of a nation that is at risk due to obesity and heart related diseases.
