Undergraduate Student Leadership Forum at the National Convention
Wednesday, March 30, 2011
7:30 am - 5:30 pm
The National, District, and State Associations are invited to send two student Delegates to participate in the National Student Leadership Forum and the National Convention. This program is to recognize student leaders identified by the state, district and national associations for their service to their colleges, universities and associations. The program is open to all students attending the Convention but the identified delegates will have additional benefits and will be expected to report back to their sponsoring association and to share Forum information with other students.
The day will start with a lively Ice Breaker session followed by attendance at the Convention Opening General Session as a group at 8:15 am. The full day program will include networking tips and many opportunities to meet AAHPERD Leaders and students from across the country. The career development topic offers an opportunity to chat with professional leaders about job interviews, developing a resume, and finding internships. A practical Speed Interviewing session is also on the agenda. Other topics will include Professional Involvement, Time Management, Stress Management and the Importance of Advocating for our Profession. The Majors Clubs session will provide an opportunity for students to gain and share ideas for active and successful Majors Clubs.
The students will leave the session with new friends, contacts with students and professionals from across the country, and fresh ideas for achieving success at school and in their future career. Attending this session on Wednesday will also provide information about how to maximize the Convention experience for the first-time or experienced Convention attendee.
The Delegate confirmation fee is $30 per student and will include:
- Convention Registration (value $75 to $115)
- Confirms attendance at the Forum programs
- Lunch at the Delegate Session of the Forum
- T-shirt
Please complete a Delegate Confirmation Form for each student and submit it with payment by fax, or mail by February 15 to: AAHPERD, Leadership Development Forum, 1900 Association Drive, Reston, VA, 20191, Fax: 703-476-9527.
Associations may register up to 5 students as delegates (keep in mind the basic program is open to all students registered for the Convention). We hope that the associations will provide additional support to help the student delegates with travel and housing at the Convention. This is a unique opportunity to encourage professional involvement for future professionals with this student-focused program and all the benefits of the National Convention.
The Forum will be open to all students at the Convention but complimentary registration and a special lunch program will only be available to the designated Delegates.
